Chapter 03

 CHAPTER 03

In a hidden, rusted shipping container in a quiet alleyway...

Outside, a gentle rain patters against the metal, but inside, the air is thick with the warm, reassuring scent of milk, dust, and pure maternal safety.

To the universe, they are cosmic entities on a divine trial. But to the tiny, blind, and deaf creatures wriggling in the dark, the universe is simple: it's warm, it's soft, and it breathes.

Stella and Bella have officially descended.

In this mortal form, their grand angelic memories are temporarily submerged, replaced by the intense, vivid instincts of newborn kittens. Stella—a tiny white puffball with two dark smudge marks right by her ears—wiggles aggressively through the pile of fur. Her tiny pink nose twitches, tracking the scent of milk.

Next to her, Bella is a sleek little tuxedo kitten, her chest and front paws stark white against her pitch-black coat. She is calmer, purring with a soft, rhythmic rumble that vibrates right through the floorboards.

But they're not alone. Wriggling happily alongside them are two other kittens from the same litter—an energetic ginger tabby they’ll come to call Leo, and a tiny, quiet calico sister they call Cleo.

A massive, gentle wall of dark calico fur shifts. It is Mama. With a deep, loving purr that sounds like a miniature engine, she sweeps her long tail around the four babies, pulling them tightly against her warm belly.

Her rough tongue gently licks the top of Stella’s head, smoothing down her damp white fur.

A tiny, high-pitched mewl escapes her as she finally finds her spot, her front paws kneading happily against her mother’s side.

Bella, nuzzling right against Stella’s shoulder, buries her face into Mama’s soft flank, completely safe from the cold world outside.

For the first three weeks, life is an absolute paradise of simplicity.

When their eyes finally blink open, the world expands into a wonderland of beautiful, magnificent things.

The alleyway isn't a place of urban decay; to the four kittens, it’s a kingdom. A shaft of golden morning sunlight pierces through the gap between the shipping container and the brick wall.

Leo immediately pounces on a drifting speck of dust, tumbling over his own paws and landing directly on top of Bella. Instead of getting annoyed, Bella happily bats at his floppy ears, her tiny claws completely retracted.

A few feet away, Stella is locked in a fierce, high-stakes battle with Cleo’s twitching tail. She pounces, her hind legs kicking wildly in a burst of pure kitten joy, before both sisters collapse into a giggling, purring heap.

Mama cat gives a soft, low "brrp" sound from her throat—the universal maternal call for dinner.

Instantly, the playtime dissolves. All four kittens scramble back to the nest, high-stepping over loose gravel with clumsy, joyous energy. Mama settles down on her side, her eyes half-closed in absolute contentment as her four babies line up, nursing eagerly while their tiny tails point straight up into the air like little antennas.

In this moment, beneath the cold iron of the human city, there's no cruelty. There's only the absolute, blinding happiness of a mother’s warmth, the soft breathing of siblings, and a love so pure it fills the young angels' spirits with a brilliant, untainted light.
